Greetings from Nigeria,
I got off to a slow start for two reasons. I
was not feeling well due to a bad sinus
infection that started last month when I was
working in Jamaica. The second reason was that I
had to work through some issues with Evangel
Hospital on the repairs. Thursday morning I got
started on the hospital generator and have made
very good progress. I have three Nigerian men
helping me with the repairs. The pictures that
are with this email show the engine we are
working on and as you will notice I have to
spent a lot of time on my back lying on top of
the fuel tank and under the engine. I did bruise
my spleen lying in this position because I had
to deal with fittings from the tank protruding
upward. I am dealing with the pain and it is
getting better. At this point I should be done
working on my back under the generator. The
pictures do not show all the progress but at
this point all the bearings are installed, the
liners and pistons are in, and the new cylinder
head and valves are installed. I am planning to
finish the generator on Wednesday and then go to
the wheel chair ministry to lay out plans for a
building to house the generator that will be
arriving here in August. Shannon will be working
with the orphan ministry in Jos this week. I
will send you more pictures of the generator and
also pictures of Shannon working with the
orphans.
I also spent some time with Bala who is the
Nigerian maintenance man at Hillcrest School. He
has an appointment on the 14th to get
his visa approved. If you are not aware, I am
attempting to bring Bala to the US in June and
July and he will be in training and working with
me at ITEC. My goal is to prepare him to
maintain the generators I am presently working
on in Nigeria. He has never been in an airplane
before so this will be an experience for him. I
sent a picture of Bala and his family also.
Please continue to pray for our safety and
health and for wisdom for me as I continue to
work on the generators. Also keep Bala in your
prayers as he goes to his appointment for his
visa. There are close to 1000 requests a day and
only 5 or 6 granted.

Third Letter from
Jim Neagle...
Greetings
from Nigeria,
Yesterday
I went with Bala to Abuja to attend a visa
appointment at the US Embassy today. We
stayed overnight because of the length of
the trip and an early appointment today.
Bala went before an examiner and he was told
that they would not approve his visa to come
to the US. I waited until afternoon and
attempted to get the decision reversed. In
just a few words the embassy did not even
entertain my request. So Bala will not be
coming to the US at this time. This is very
discouraging to Bala and especially to me.
Bala was going to play a key role in the
generator ministry here in Nigeria. He was
scheduled to come to ITEC with me for two
months to get proper training to service
generators and to be my eyes while I am not
here. I am quite down at the moment but I am
sure the Lord has plans and I am looking to
Him.
I ran the
generator at the hospital yesterday and it
sounded great! So I want to give the Lord
praise for what has been accomplished. I am
always in awe when a successful rebuild has
taken place here in Nigeria with the limited
resources. I will work there tomorrow to
take care of some misc. repairs and then I
will proceed to Miango with Shannon on
Saturday.
Shannon
has been working at the orphan ministry,
Gidan Bege, in Jos, and the boys living
there are enjoying the time they spend with
her. They did not have enough dishes to eat
together and Shannon went to the market
today and purchased some more. They enjoyed
the football and soccer ball that she
brought as well. I am sending some pictures
of her activities.
I do not
have any updated pictures of the generator.
Please
continue to pray for our safety, health, and
success. We will be starting our trip back
to the US on Thursday, May 21st.
